What is latex on a goalkeeper glove?
Latex is the foam applied to the palm of the glove. It provides grip (the ball sticking) and cushions powerful shots.
Not all gloves have the same latex: there are different qualities (German Contact, Giga Grip, Aqua, etc.) and different thicknesses (3mm, 3.5mm, 4mm, sometimes more). We detail the types in which latex to choose for your gloves.

Which latex for which profile?
- You are a young goalkeeper (U9-U13): 3mm latex. Lighter, better suited for your growing hand.
- You are an adult who plays 1-2 times a week: 4mm latex. You will get your money's worth over time.
- You play at a demanding level (starting goalkeeper in departmental league+): 4mm latex minimum, ideally German Contact latex like DNY GRIP™.
- You mainly play in the rain: 4mm latex is essential, the 3mm will quickly become saturated.

How to extend the life of your latex
Regardless of the thickness, you can double the lifespan of your gloves by following these 3 simple rules:
- Dampen the palm before each use. Dry latex is brittle; when wet, it sticks better and wears out slower.
- Rinse with lukewarm water after each session. Without rubbing, without soap. Field dust is the number one enemy of latex.
- Air dry. Never on a radiator, never in direct sunlight. Latex shrinks and cracks with excessive heat.
